Detection of short interruptions for medium voltage cables
Short interruptions of the inner semiconductor (strand shield) at the production of medium voltage cables is a phenomenon, which specifically at very thin insulation layers occurs occasionally and is not safely detected at a discharge test. Discovered are such faults unfortunately quite often only by the end-users with all unpleasant consequences.
With the STRANDSHIELD 2000 SIKORA presents a system, which detects and reports any short interruptions of the semi conductor already during the production process of the cable. The distribution of such defective cable can be stopped in-time, before the supply to the end-user.
The measuring system will be installed in the cooling trough after the CV-line, and is designed for cables in a diameter from 10 to 60 mm. Detected are shortest interruptions with a length of only 10 mm at a line speed of up to 600 m/min.
The STRAND SHIELD 2000 is an indispensable tool for an active quality control, whereby this system pays back its investment quite often already by detecting one of these faults.
