Applications

X-RAY technology for tube and hose extrusion lines

The X-RAY 2000 is an X-ray based new generation measuring system for wall thickness, diameter, concentricity and ovality measurement, all in one. It is especially designed for the measurement of all kinds of tubes or hoses, including composite pipes and rubber hoses.

More than 30 years ago, SIKORA supplied the first wall thickness measuring systems to be used on jacketing lines for cables. Quite often the system had been used to measure the jacket of steel armoured or screened cables. Typically, the measurement of the average wall thickness had been calculated from diameter measuring values of the cable, taken before and after the extruder. The concentricity of the insulation was not taken into consideration.

The success of the X-RAY 8000 systems at CV-lines was taken to the next generation in the X-RAY 2000 system, designed for tube and hose extrusion lines. In this field customers now also benefit from a quick centring of the cross head, a reduced start-up scrap, reduced material over-consumption and quality improvement.
