Cleanliness Scanning System for the controlling of the purity of XLPE insulation in HV and EHV power cables

Cleanliness of the insulating material is one of the most important quality criteria in the production of XLPE insulated cables. Many measures have been taken, especially in the production of high voltage and extra high voltage cables, to reduce contamination of the cable insulation. In this context, there is a tremendous demand for a pure insulation material when it goes through the X-head on the conductor. The Cleanliness Scanning System CSS 2 is a tool for customers to create a super clean concept by an on-line supervision of the total XLPE material for purity in the flow channel directly before the X-head.
