Measurement of the diameter
For the measurement of the diameter the measuring head CV-INTUBE 6000 is used in combination with the processor system ECOCONTROL 2000. The ECOCONTROL 2000, an industrial PC system, offers a full compliment of production and quality control information.

The system presents in a user friendly manner all numerical and graphical information on the 15“ TFT touch screen display. A comprehensive feature set of trending and statistical analysis as well as data collection and reporting rounds out the system capabilities. Besides, ECOCONTROL 2000 enables an optimum control of production either by an automatic regulation of the line speed or of the extruder rpm.

Measurement of the insulation wall thickness
The insulation wall thickness is calculated from the diameter values measured before and after the extruder by a LASER Series 2000 XY measuring head and the CV-INTUBE 6000. A speed controlled delay time memory ensures that only measuring values taken at the same point of the cable are compared to achieve the highest precision. On the touch screen of the ECOCONTROL 2000, a shrinkage value can be selected to compensate for the material shrinkage.

Eccentricity, Wall Thickness and Ovality in one step
For the measurement of the eccentricity and the wall thickness of medium, high and extra high voltage cables SIKORA offers the X-RAY based measuring system X-RAY 8000 NXT, which determines the eccentricity and the wall thickness of the inner semiconductor, the insulation and the outer semiconductor of the cable, as well as the outer diameter and the ovality.

Automatic mode with SET POINT
The ECOCONTROL 2000 is equipped with the SIKORA control module SET POINT, for controlling diameter/ wall thickness. SET POINT controls either line speed or extruder screw rpm. The diameter respectively wall thickness control provided is always precise for every product size and line speed. The SET POINT can easily be adapted to every extrusion line.

Hot/Cold Control with HC 2000
For highest product quality and precision, at simultaneously the lowest possible compound consumption, SIKORA offers the hot/cold control module HC 2000. With the hot/cold control module HC 2000, the material shrinkage is continuously calculated and taken into consideration with the control of the diameter/wall thickness. In this regard it is of main importance, that the advanced patented SIKORA system compares the hot/cold values of the diameter at the same cable position, by means of a speed controlled delay time memory.
