X-ray technology for CV lines
The manufacturing of medium, high and extra high voltage cable is virtually impossible without adequate measuring equipment. Nearly every CCV, VCV and MDCV line is equipped with a system for the measurement of diameter, wall thickness, concentricity and ovality. The most common equipment for this application is the SIKORA X-RAY 8000, typically installed directly after the crosshead. The system provides online measurements of up to three insulation layers. It is based on "state of the art" X-ray technology and was first introduced to the market in 1993.
Today this system is recognized as the industrial standard for the process for manufacturing MV, HV and EHV power cables. With the experience gained over 14 years and over 400 installed systems, SIKORA is now introducing the X-RAY 8000 NEXT GENERATION. Because of the incredible success of the X-RAY 8000 the attribute "NEXT GENERATION" (NXT) was added in place of creating an entirely new name.
The X-RAY 8000 NXT provides improved accuracy, meeting today’s increased demands regarding perfection. Additionally, the NXT satisfies present requirements concerning data storage, comprehensive statistical analysis and communication with host computers.
